"Building Together In Love"

Ephesians 4:16

Wednesday evenings Pastor Mike Jacobsen will be starting a teaching series on "what we believe" in the Pentecostal Church of God.  This series will be especially beneficial for those who would like to enter into covenant fellowship as voting members with Palermo Bible Family Church.  It will also be a great teaching for those who want to understand "Basic Doctrinal Truths".  Pastor encourages everyone to be present for every session of teaching and challenging believers to step up to the next level of commitment "church membership".

Believing For A Move of God

Isaiah 6:1,8 In the year that king Uzziah died I saw also the LORD sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up, and his train filled the temple. 8 Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me.

Be like Isaiah

  • "Here am I, Lord, send me!"
  • A Participant not a spectator
  • Press for the revelation of the Lords heart for your ministry "I saw the Lord ... Send ME! "

Scripture is filled with men and women of God, who in one breath desired to be right smack in the center of a Divine Move of God; but could not experience it...or not willing to pay the price to experience it.

Leviticus 9:1-4 It came to pass on the eighth day that Moses called Aaron and his sons and the elders of Israel. And he said to Aaron, "Take for yourself a young bull as a sin offering and a ram as a burnt offering, without blemish, and offer them before the Lord. And to the children of Israel you shall speak saying, "Take a kid of the goats as a sin offering, and a calf and a lamb, both of the first year, without blemish as a burnt offering. Also a bull and a ram as peace offerings to sacrifice before the Lord, and a grain offering mixed with oil; for today the Lord will appear to you."

Its interesting here that Moses is speaking to Aaron about a special manifestation of the Lord. We know that these are the times of the tabernacle where everyday they can see Gods presence over above the tabernacle of the Lord. For it was a pillar of cloud by day and a pillar of fire at night. So everyday they can see Gods presence over above the tabernacle of meeting where the ark of God was and where it was laid. But God was speaking to Aaron about a special manifestation. And surprisingly even though God promised a manifestation, there is an order by which you still have to approach God. Moses said to Aaron that God is going to appear to him, but before He does so He wants man to do some things and he gave all the instructions.

Burnt offering. [N] [B] [E]

The word is applied to the offering which was wholly consumed by fire on the altar, and the whole of which, except the refuse ashes "ascended" in the smoke to God. The meaning of the whole burnt offering was that which is the original idea of all sacrifice, the offering by the sacrificer of himself, soul and body, to God--the submission of his will to the will of the Lord. The ceremonies of the burnt offering are given in detail in the book of Leviticus.

 [SACRIFICE]

Sacrificing Is a Way of Life

The sacrificial offerings of Leviticus are not insignificant, primitive, or barbaric. God carefully devised them as teaching tools to those under the Old Covenant, who looked forward to the full revelation of the object of His law, and to those of us under the New Covenant, who look back on it.

We Must prepare for a move of God

Acts chapter 2 gives a better understanding of what was going on with the disciples during that time.

There Must Be Unity In The Church:

Acts 2:1 And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.

In order to see a move of God there must be unity in the church and in our families. Acts 2:1 basically says that the disciples were all together in one accord and in one place. Over the years we have had folks tell us things like "I know we missed the service, but we were with you in spirit." I'm sorry, but your spirit is in your body. The only way we are going to be together is if you bring your body! It's difficult to have unity in the local church if folks never get together to fellowship and share the Word with one another.

We Must Hear A Sound From Heaven:

Acts 2:2 And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.

In order to see a move of God, as your pastor, I must be hearing from Him. But I am not alone in our quest as a people of God; we must be seeking God as a fellowship.

We Must be Filled With God: Acts 2:4 And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost,

See also Ephesians 5:18-19 and Acts 2:15.

Acts 2:4 says that they were all filled with (or under the control of) the Spirit. If Christians operate only in their flesh trouble will ensue. Being filled with the Spirit is an ongoing process because we have a lot of leaks! The only way to continually be filled with the Spirit is to set apart some time daily to spend with God in prayer, worship, and in studying the Word.

The World Must See Something Different: Acts 2:15-16 For these are not drunken, as ye suppose, seeing it is but the third hour of the day. 16But this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel; In this passage the people saw things happening that they had never seen before. In order to see a move of God the world needs to see something different in us and in the church as a whole.
